Technovate Advisory Services (TAS) is an autonomous entity founded by Dr. Eng. George Mulamula and Ms. Joyce Rupia.
Mission
Stimulate and increase human, social and economic development at grass root level and above.
Vision
Support the creation of sustainable startup enterprises and jobs through the use of innovative digital tools and enabled technologies that catalyze gender equity, business growth and the well-being of a people in a nation striving towards industrialization.
Achievements
Achievements over the combined past 30 years by the founders include, among others: Supporting several Regional local Government Authorities (LGAs) increase revenue generation through business implementation strategies (These include Mwanza and Simiyu); Development of online mobile entrepreneurship and other course learning platforms for various entities/projects like VETA, TADIYE Project, MCC-PEPFAR Project; Supporting health organisations in the rural settings provide better “first mile” services to patients; Supporting digital mobility through drone delivery services to needy clinics, patients and customers in hard to reach areas.
The founders of TAS have collaborated with various partners to develop programmes and they include: Vodacom Tanzania, Tanzania Communication Regulatory Authority (TCRA), World Bank infoDev, TechnoBrain Ltd, World Bank Country Office, MCC/PEPFAR of USA, MIT G-Lab of USA, Tanzania Private Sector Foundation (TPSF) Building Development Gateway Programme, Lions@Africa, NMB Bank, GIST Programme of US State Dept Global Partnership, Demeter, Silicon Valley Black Chamber of Commerce, TanzICT Programme of Finland, Cambridge University of UK, University of Dar es Salaam College of ICT, University of Dodoma, Demo Africa, Unreasonable Solutions of Uganda, Tanzania National Empowerment & Economic Council, Airtel Tanzania, FSDT, ICT Commission, Makerere University Business School, XPrize of USA, LVC Drone programme, to name a few.
TAS Objectives
- Working with LGAs to provide strategic insights in the use of ICT technologies to spur economic and social development in the communities
- Work with ICT Start-ups, those with new creative, innovative ideas and SMEs to assist in their growth
- Catalyze creation of new job opportunities in the region especially for graduating youth with creative innovations;
- Facilitating skills & capacity building in mobile & ICT technologies;
- Better leverage intellectual property from the University and area research institutes and use of IPR by entrepreneurs;
- Contributing to the growth and success of emerging technology businesses;
- Contributing to the generation of new tax revenues and FDI for the country;
- Supporting the linkage between academia and industry in education, capacity building & knowledge transfer through training and workshops so that ICT entrepreneurship is fostered and the application of knowledge is fast tracked in its deployment in economic activities;
- Advocacy for an enabling eco-system environment (both soft and hard) for gender equality and the growth of ICT entrepreneurship and innovation;
- Supporting youth, especially women, be part of the innovation & entrepreneurship process through training and capacity building;
- Advocacy and programme implementation for financial inclusion to reach rural areas and include women and youth to catalyse gender issues, among other things like health, education, etc;
- Being a catalyst for the growth of mobile application development for citizen interaction for poverty alleviation in all sectors of the economy, e.g., health, governance, water& sanitation, judiciary, education;
- Supporting the growth of formal SMEs from informal SMEs through technology usage;
- Work with youth and their organisations to strategise on their participation in economic and social development activities to realize the SDGs, while providing tools coupled with coaching and mentorship.
- Enhance the soft skills of youth and those in enterprises to be able to deliver pitches and negotiate for funding.
